Dear Sailors and Friends, The Commodore’s Champagne Pursuit Race was a great enjoyable event sailed in very tricky conditions, there was a strong North-Wester and a shallow Vlei level which made sailing difficult. The event was won by Ian Ainslie, a previous club member and visitor from Holland where he coaches the Dutch Olympic Team. The event was so popular we are going to repeat it again next Sunday the 22nd February. And there is a bottle of Sparkling Grape Juice for the Junior Winner which did not take place last Sunday. The Champagne Breakfast was a hit, so do join us. The race will start at 11 am to enable you to enjoy a leisurely breakfast! This Weekend ALFRED ROWING CLUB TALK evening and supper set for Friday 13th February. Liz Day, a Club member, is set to give us a fascinating talk on the Vlei – origins, history, water quality, algal blooms, the effects of a stray Zeekoe on the nerves of rowers, etc – starting at 18h30. At a cost of R50 per person I reckon that is fantastic value!  I hope we will be able to meet some of our sailing colleagues to boot – as  it applies to them as much as us!  Rochelle is providing dinner for another R50 per person, and the bar will be open from 5.30pm.  A good evening is guaranteed! We already have 35 bookings, so if you are intending to come for dinner, please contact Nigel ASAP at bhunkelerbrown@gmail.com to RSVP SUNSAIL CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS  14th/15th Feb (yes, St Valentine’s Day) All the social activities are planned for Saturday after the racing; live music and the Sunsail Overseas...
