Dear Sailors and Friends, PARKING AT THE CLUB Members: Please park your cars diagonally down both sides of Governors Walk. This enables more parking places to be used especially on our busy weekends. Please do not park in the spaces provided for the Commodore, Secretary & Caterer. BOAT PARK NOTICE We have started to move unidentified boats out of the boat park to the Bene Bibi plot. Beginning with boats which are the most derelict boats (see the pictures below). Please would the owners come forward and identify your boats with management, and make arrangements to either remove them from the club property or comply with the new boat park regulations. Boats not identified after a 6 week period will be sold off to cover costs of arrear boat parking fees. Pictures of these boats will also be posted on the club notice board. If you have not yet completed the new boat park form and placed stickers on the transom of your boat and dolly, please attend to this as soon as possible. The Club need’s the cooperation of all members in the drive to put proper controls in place for the boat park, which is to the benefit of all members. This applies to the Covered, Open, Dabchick and Optimist boat parks. Dear Sailors and Friends, LAST WEEKEND EXTRA NATIONALS This past weekend the Extra Nationals were held at Zeekoevlei and hosted by UCT YC. 17 Boats contended for the title but after great sailing over the 3 days, Markus Progli walked away with the Title Extra National Champion 2015. SPRING SERIES RACING A couple of boats sailed the Spring Series Round 3 and the results are on the website. THIS WEEKEND Saturday, 17th October 2015  RSA VS WALES  Big Screen TV, upper deck open from 16h30 and kick-off is at 17h00! Rochelle will be serving Welsh Lamb Cawl R50 (lamb & veg stew); Burgers R35; Boerie rolls R20. Dear Sailors and Friends, At least 50 Members and Vleibours rolled up to the club to watch the rugby last night, enjoyed burgers from Rochelle, and left the club much later, feeling better than they did after the Japanese game! “Go Bokke!” THIS WEEKEND ALFRED ROWING CLUB EVENT – V&A WATERFRONT – Saturday 10th October 2015 On Saturday, 10th October, starting at 10h45 there is an exciting sprint regatta happening at the V&A Waterfront.  It has been organised by the Alfred’s vice-commodore and club captain in association with Western Cape Rowing and Cape Town Boat Show organisers.  Crews from Alfred’s, Grassy Park, Cape Coastal, Maties (Stellenbosch), Somerset College and Grey’s will be racing on a 250m course from the Clocktower into the Albert Basin in Coxed 4’s, coxed quads and yolettes.  There will be a knock-out format, and will be fast and furious!  The program will be over by 14h00. Cape Town International Boat Show 2015

Dear Sailors and Friends, South African Sailing Western Cape at the Cape Town International Boat Show South African Sailing Western Cape will be exhibiting at the Cape Town International Boat Show at the CTICC and the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town from 9 to 11 October 2015.  We are very excited about this and will be using this event to raise the profile of the sport of sailing across all sailing disciplines and to attract new and past sailors into the sport that we love. Our Stand B4 in the Main Hall and on the Marina will feature the following: Selection of dinghies, multihulls, kiteboards and windsurfers at the stand State of the art IRC keelboats, Vulcan and Nitro, will be available for walk on visitors Video presentation of sailing action on a large TV screen Chance to test your skills on the Harken coffee grinder Chat to sailors and South African Sailing council members On the Saturday and Sunday, Fergies Sailing School will run a Learn to Sail with boats available on the water to introduce people to the sport of sailing. Watch the RCYC opening cruise from the V&A Waterfront on Saturday Yacht club and South African Sailing adult members are offered a 50% reduction on their entrance fee on presentation of membership cards. The Show opens at 10:00 daily, closing at 18:00 on Friday and Saturday, and at 17:00 on Sunday.
