Cambridge men won by two and a half lengths and Oxford women won comfortably over Cambridge women, who survived an almost sinking, to complete the race in a determined show of courage and effort. If you missed it you would do well to watch the BBC clip of the race. Every year to mark this event Cape Coastal invite Alfred RC to race against them on the boat race day. This year due to weather the race was moved to the 28th when fair weather prevailed and a great days racing was enjoyed. Alfred women won against CCR and for the second year CCR men beat Alfred. Dear Sailors and Friends, LAST WEEKEND With over 25 boats on the water, the Central Boating pre-SASWC Easter Champs race day was greatly enjoyed by all members who took part! However we do have a wedding planned for Saturday starting at 15h00. Members will still have access via the gate system. So far we have had no volunteers from our club which does not bode well for the future as we must do everything to encourage a strong sailing base at our club. It does not have to be for the whole weekend, but a morning or afternoon session can always help. We really need members to come forward and assist us in this event and it will help...

Noel Mallinson Memorial

Dear Sailors and Friends, It is with great sadness that we say farewell to our ZVYC President, Noel Mallinson. Noel passed away on Sunday morning, 20th March 2016 after fighting an illness over the last six months. Noel was a patriotic, hard working member who served the club in many ways and could always be called upon for help at very short notice. Condolences to Joan, David, Sandy and all his family. There is a memorial for Noel this Thursday, 24th March 2016 at 12h00 at the Christ Church in Constantia. Team Mystic finished in second place while two teams from Zeekoe Vlei Sailing Centre and Team Mamma Mia all finishing in the top third of the event! Dear Sailors and Friends, LAST WEEKEND Well done to our members who partook in the Argus Cycle tour! Despite the cycling, the club was alive on Sunday with early morning rowing and Junior training. The wind was perfect in the morning for the juniors, and picked up nicely later on for the Finn’s, X-Tra’s and Sonnets. A great day of sailing!    THIS WEEKEND SACS Rowing On Saturday, SACS are holding a rowing event at the club from 07h30. An all day event. Junior Training starting at 09h30 and Summer Series Rnd 5 at 11h00. Are you all ready for the Grand Slam over the Easter weekend? Come join the club racing to check your boats and get some extra practice in! Tuck shop is open and galley will be serving Chicken & Spinach Lasagne and Cottage Pie.
