Dear Members and Friends, We wish our ZVYC Team Tiletoria safe travels to Durban. The team will be leaving early next week to partake in the 65th Lipton Cup Challenge to be held at Point Yacht Club. You can follow them on their Facebook page and read more information on the Lipton Website.  YOUTH SAILING Kai Leslie is off to Poland to represent South Africa at the 2018 ILCA Laser Under-21 World Championships 1-8 July. Training with Sonja Stock, Cullen & Sara-Jane, it’s been loads of dedication and an incredible journey to get this far. Sara-Jane Deary & Cullen Keytel with coach Stefano Marcia – are off to sail for South Africa at the Youth Worlds in Corpus Christi, Texas, USA, 14th-21st July.  65 countries & over 400 sailors are taking part in the 48th version of the Youth Sailing World Championships, as the stars of the future are born once again.  But before they do that, they’re warming up at the US Laser Nationals in Houston, Texas 29 June – 03 July. Cullen & Sara-Jane, being the top ceded Laser Radial sailors in SA have been on an incredible journey to get this far… Go grab the dream guys … we’re right behind you and so proud of you! Dear Members and Friends, Happy Winter Solstice! The club is proud to announce that we have finally been awarded Non Profit Organisation status as of Monday 18th June 2018! Thank you to Anna Keytel, Clair Gardner, Craig Leslie, Kathryn Hartley and Pearl Witbooi (Professional Business Services) for all your dedicated hours. RCYC Youth Regatta was held last weekend in Table Bay. ZVYC and ZVSC were shining throughout! Well Done to first in Class A – ZVYC Naledi with Felix Scheder-Bieschin on helm and crew Theo Scheder-Bieschin; Karen, Hamilton & Thomas Slater; Gavin, Matt & Oliver Ashwell; Alex Falcon and Ross MacKinnon. For ZV Sailing Center we had Luke Topass; Lance Curtis and Amir Yoghur joined by HBYC Rushin, Jeanne, Complex and Renton all sailing on Corum. Dear Members and Friends, Alfred’s Rowing Club have taken delivery of their new Quad from Rob van der Merwe of John Waugh Racing. This is to replace “Rock Girl” that sadly had been written off. “I think that you will all agree that the finish which Rob has provided is superb in my opinion, extremely well made and at close to the minimum weight at 52,45 kg in quad rig.” Richard Moolenschot, Boat Master for Alfred’s More news from Alfred’s is the “Bergriver Long Row” which is situated 27km from Doornfontein Farm and a down-river row happening this weekend! A young ladies quad and a masters mixed double will be partaking. Results will follow 😉        ZVYC has Team Tiletoria entered into the Lipton Cup this year to be held at Point Yacht Club in Durban from 6th to 13th July. They are Heidi & Nicola Burger, Nina Pienaar, Gail Wheeler, Tia Makohliso and Robyn Patrick with Taariq Jacobs as their coach.  On to the Juniors and we are proud to say congratulations to our Optimist sailors invited to the team going to the Qingdao International Training Camp and Regatta, China, in August (8th to 16th)!! They are: Oscar Duys, Dean Carstens, Hayden Philander and Joe Groenhof. Safe Travels. On Sunday, a rowing clubs sub-committee will be formed for the upcoming season. All rowers from all the Zeekoevlei clubs are welcome to join. ZVYC News 1 June 2018

Dear Members and Friends, June is here and the pouring rain last night has filled the Vlei up!!! Here is to a super 2018/2019 season!  Winter maintenance is “hotting” up and we are tidying up boat parks, storage sheds and fine tuning the safety boat engines (& updating COF’s) for the new season. There is a new storage system in the Opti shed for the masts, and the club Pico’s and 420 rigging will also be stored in their own shed behind the kitchen. Brian has arrived safely in Zimb and on behalf of Brian, we’d like to thank ALL of those members and Vleibours who helped with funding of Freddy’s repatriation. FOR YOUR DIARY   The club house will not be open every Sunday for the June and July. Should you need anything from the office, please contact us during the week so we may assist you.
