Dear Members and Friends,

Water levels have risen enough for the rowing season to commence, and rowers took to the water on Sunday morning in perfect, glassy conditions and the youth radial group have been practicing in Stormy Bay in preparation for their regatta in Holland. A great start to the season! Alfred’s rowing training sessions are on Saturdays and Sundays, from 08h00.

2017 Laser Radial Youth World Championships
Medemblik, Netherlands – 11 to 18 August 2017
Of 391 total entries from 46 countries, our members are getting in the last of their last training here at the club this weekend with Gareth and Rudolph.
Sarah-Jane Deary, Cullen Keytel, Sonja Stock and Kai Leslie are among 8 of the radial sailors representing South Africa in Medemblik. We will be following you all the way!

Proposed MTN Tower Talk

ZVYC Commodore Craig Leslie, along with Paul Venter & Louisa Erasmus of Warren Petterson Planning, will be hosting a discussion at the club on Friday 4th August 2017 on the proposed MTN Tower. We will walk to the proposed tower location at 18h00, then back to the club upper deck where the talk will take place. All members, Zeekoevlei residents and friends are welcome.

OTHER NEWS

 CoCT (City of Cape Town) has put into effect Level 4B Water Restrictions as of 1st July 2017. They are asking that we use no more than 87 litres of water per person per day. Please keep your after rowing/sailing shower to the suggested limit of 2 minutes.
The club well-point for the swimming pool, has been extended to the open boat park to provide water to rinse of your boat. Please use this water sparingly too.

Alfred’s Sprint Regatta – Saturday 26th August 2017
Rowing will start around 08:00 to be completed by 11:00 followed with a braai and prize giving. The braai will be catered for by Rochelle at R70 a head. Pimms and own drinks are welcome. Please let me know who would like participate (e.jaco.myburgh@gmail.com), so I can set crews and so we can get a few practice runs in. Let’s start the season on a high note!
