Founded in 1932, ZVYC is one of Cape Town’s oldest Yacht Clubs and the training ground for some of South Africa’s top sailors.

Zeekoe Vlei Yacht Club (incorporating Alfred Rowing Club) is the preeminent dinghy sailing club in the Cape Metropole with a long and proud history of producing sailors who have gone onto sailing competitively both locally and internationally on sailing dinghy’s and keelboats.

The club house is situated on Peninsula Road in Cape Town suburb of Zeekoevlei.

The club boasts a large entertainment hall serviced by a galley and tuck shop, with an upstairs bar and lounge, fitted with an entertainment system and 3 television sets connected to DSTV. Wi-Fi access is free. The hall is frequently hired for weddings and events to Members and the public.

There is ample open, covered and secure boat parking, for member’s boats. In addition there is a separate secure trailer park. Ablution facilities are excellent for both male, female and a separate wheel chair friendly shower and toilet exists.

The member’s zone has a large swimming pool, kiddies paddle pool, braai area, TV, swings, outside benches with umbrellas, separate toilets, pool table, darts, fuse ball and table tennis.

Situated in the member’s zone is the Barry Burton Barbour training centre equipped with an interactive white board, overhead projector and other training aids, as well as the club & sailing manager’s office and first aid facility (including a bed and necessary first aid equipment).

The club boasts 4 training rubber ducks, 2 safety crafts and a fantastic start/finish committee boat for club training, racing and regattas.

There are Optimist dinghy’s to hire for different levels of sailors, 3x Pico’s and 6x 420 sailing dinghies.

Alfred Rowing Club, the oldest rowing club in South Africa with a proud tradition, is a division of the yacht club. Bishops, Grassy Park and SACS high school rowing have made Zeekoe Vlei Yacht Club their home with their own sheds. So too Bishops College Sailing Club.

Zeekoe Vlei is proud to have a development sailing NPO based on the premises. Zeekoevlei Sailing Centre is actively introducing underprivileged children to sail; many of whom have gone on to excel in dinghies and keelboats locally and internationally. click here
