ZVYC News 13 July 2017

unnamed (1)

Dear Members and Friends,

As you will see the Vlei from the heading photo (left) is starting to fill up slowly not, much rain yet, in fact the school rowers are making the most of the sunny weather and school holidays, to make the most of their winter break.

The Optimist worlds has started in Thailand yesterday and our Matt is currently in the “blue” fleet, no actual results yet.

Asenathi and Sibu are currently sailing in the 470 World Championships and after working their way through the early rounds and getting good results in the fleet they are now in the Gold Fleet where the standard is very much higher. Their current position is 24th.

The club is currently applying, through SA Sailing, to be recognized as a training center. The conditions are fairly onerous but we hope to be through them by the time the inspection takes place. Two sailors fro the Sailing Center have applied to become recognized instructors and we will be making use of them in our training.

You will notice from the diary below that the club is having organized sailing on the 6th & 13th August in the afternoons and our Opening Cruise has changed date to Sunday 27th August. During the Frostbite series, after the sailing; join us in the upper deck where Rochelle will have burgers/boerie rolls and/or hot “bowl” food available and warm up next to the fire with red wine/gluhwein in hand.
