LAST WEEKEND
Youth High Performance Training Weekend
The Training Camp started off with a BANG! Kids came from far and wide – as far as Durban.
We had hectic winds on Saturday which was great for the high performance sailors on Optimists, Dabchicks, Lasers & 29ers. Fri evening Dave Hudson gave a talk on Rules of Sailing.
Saturday evening ended with an inspirational talk by Olympian sailor just returned from Rio, Roger Hudson. Roger talked about Winners, Losers & being “just a competitor” and what the kids took away from Roger’s talk was: “never give up!” Sunday morning started with a run past the weir and beyond!
The Lasers had a session on downwind sailing with Alan Keen as well as their coaches Gareth Blanckenberg, Alistair Keytel & Chris Deary.
The best part of the weekend was that the light wind on Sunday allowed for the the Novice Optimists to get sailing solo!! They were having so much fun we couldn’t get them off the water to go home!
See you ALL next year!

Please make suitable arrangements with the office.
