Dear Sailors and Friends,

LAST WEEKEND

ALFRED ROWING CLUB – CRABS DINNER, SATURDAY 20 JUNE 2015
The Alfred’s Crabs Dinner last Saturday night was a great success, with more than 100 people attending and a good spirit enjoyed by all.  Rochelle provided a fine roast dinner; Dornier the wines and Toni Enderli, the long distance cold-water swimmer, the after-dinner motivation!  A very successful raffle was held, and an equally successful auction, at which the naming rights for Alfred’s new quad were bought on behalf of the Rock Girl NGO.
ARC really pulled together for this one with great and valued assistance from Judy & Richard Moolenschot, Tweet & Tommy Brummer, our MC for the night Martin Vanlierde & our auctioneer Gavin Kirk.  We were happy to welcome several members of the sailing arm of the club, very definitely a number of past-rowers and members of our future, the Grassy Park Rowing Club.
We hope to have raised in excess of R40,000 through the night’s entertainment.

T.G.I.F. – Fire and Fynbos – After the 2015 Fires; What Now?

Dalton Gibbs, from City of Cape Town Nature Conservation, will be giving a very interesting talk about the recent devastating Cape Fires, that has been highly acclaimed.
The Upper Deck will be open from 17h30 with supper available near a cozy fire. You don’t want to miss this one!

More SAS News – SAS Level 1 Instructors Course: 7-9 July
South African sailing is looking for young, motivated and enthusiastic sailors to help grow sailing through professional and fun sail training. To further this SAS will be running a Level 1 sailing instructors course at Imperial Yacht Club from 7-9 July and is open to youth aged 16 and upwards.
The course is R1000.00 and a minimum of five attendees.
