Join us at 18:30 for snacks and mingling, followed by an inspiring talk at 19:00 by Claire Taylor, marine wildlife specialist with 26 years at the Two Oceans Aquarium.
Claire is the Interactive Exhibits & Marine Animal Welfare Specialist and a founding member of the Marine Wildlife Management Programme. She has led daring rescues of entangled Cape fur seals and sunfish, including a nine-month effort to free a trapped seal. She is also trained with the South African Whale Disentanglement Network to safely remove fishing gear from large whales.
Beyond rescue, Claire monitors Cape clawless otters in Cape Town’s harbour and is deeply committed to public education on marine animal welfare, encouraging communities to report distressed wildlife and reduce human impacts on the ocean.
