OTHER NEWS

Chief Executive Officer for South African Sailing (SAS)
We are very excited to be calling for applications for a full time CEO of South African Sailing.  This role is crucial for the continued growth of our sport especially at the current time with many new opportunities and initiatives under sasway.
The successful applicant would ordinarily be a contender for a material corporate role in the private sector with general management and fund raising experience.  It is not necessary for the CEO to be a sailor or to have had a career in the marine sector.
The full role specifications are detailed below.
Please circulate this as widely as possible to ensure we find the best candidate for our sport.
All candidates are to submit their CV together, with a covering letter detailing their suitability for the role, to Wendy Adams at South African Sailing –saswc@sailing.org.za  Closing date for application is Tuesday 31 May 2016. Please see link for detailed specifications: SAS CEO_PDF.pdf
Regards
Peter Hall
Chairman – South African Sailing

World Sailing (formally ISAF) Youth World Trials
At the recent regatta held at Zululand Yacht Club (ZYC), our members did well.
Optimist: Matt Ashwell 1st, Alex Falcon 2nd and Tristan Tomlinson 3rd
Laser Radial: Kai Leslie 1st, and Sarah-Jane Deary was the 1st girl
Let’s hope that the SAS selection committee takes note of these results. 7 of our members made the onerous trip to Richard’s Bay and back! We admire your enthusiasm and well done to our members.

Western Province Colours Awards (SASWC)
The awards were held at Royal Cape Yacht Club (RCYC) on Monday 9th May 2016. We have still not managed to get hold of the list of awards or the SAS National Trophy awards, but these members did get colours for the last season: Greg Davis (Lipton Cup), Matt Ashwell & Zander Brooks (Optimist) and Paul Allardice (Finn). The SASWC Rob Meek Memorial Trophy was awarded to Matt Ashwell, first time presented; and Jimmy Baigrie, deservedly got the SAS National Stan Jeffrey Trophy, for services to yachting.

Best wishes,
on behalf of ZVYC,
Kathryn & Ron
