Dear Sailors and Friends,
We have a busy weekend ahead at the Club!
TGIF tomorrow (Friday)
There has been such great activity at the Club lately and we would like to keep the momentum. The TGIF is happening again tomorrow, and we would like to see as many members as possible down at the Club. We have been working hard at ZVYC has in the off-season to make it more “user friendly” for the members to enjoy. TGIF is not only about racing, it is also about coming to the Club and enjoying yourselves with your friends.
Braai fires will be lit tomorrow and crockery and cutlery will be available. The bar will be open and ZVYC member Jess Deary will be playing live music for us. So bring your braai meat and come and enjoy the company of the other members and the community after work.
Racing starts at 17h00
Volvo In-Port Race
Saturday is the Volvo “In Port Race” and as the wind is quite strong you should get down to Table Bay and watch the Volvo boats flying around the Bay, or even better grab a ride with any of your friends that have a keelboats
Rugby on the Big Screen
After last week’s setback for the Boks, it is a really big one this Saturday RSA plays England at 16h30 I am sure we can do it we always bounce back.
Rochelle will be there with our happy barman – come and watch the rugby on the big screen!
Weekend Racing
Following last Sunday racing when we had 11 Lasers out racing we will try to keep the interest going, but his time rather have 2 shorter races, Rochelle will be waiting to serve you’re a tasty lunch, her wraps are becoming legendary!

In the pipeline
Big Screen Rugby
We may have slipped up recently about advising when we are showing, but we will be showing allSaturday Springbok rugby games, and when suitable, also the Protea’s cricket games. Having just said that, we will not be showing the Springboks playing Italy on Saturday 22nd November as the Club Club is booked for a private function. Saturday 29th Nov RSA vs Wales will definitely be shown at 16h30.
Race Ahead is back training at Zeekoevlei. with 3 Lasers as well as their 470’s I am sure they will appreciate others boats on the water to help raise the levels, maybe if you are thinking of coming down, call to the Office and we will give you more info on the days activities.
Seaport Race Day is now to be sailed on Sunday 23rd November will be similar to the North Sails Day but only 2 races in the morning
Last Club Racing Day this year will be Sunday 7th Dec with many many events taking place during the School Hols; Mirror Worlds, Youth Nationals, Sonnet Nationals, Crocs Regatta, etc etc.

Storage Facilities available at ZVYC
Tired of bringing your sailing equipment each weekend to the Club? We have built a secure storage area to go with our Garage, which we recently hired out. These areas are a 1.5 m long x 1.0m wide shelf with a separate mast rack are available at R1200.00 from now until the Opening Cruise next year. There are 5 spaces only left, they have a separate dedicated key given only to renters. Call the office now or email manager@zvyc.co.za to book your storage area!
SAS WC Colours Awards
At a Gala function held at the Volvo Race Village at the V & A Waterfront, the following members received awards – a big congratulations to them all:

We are extremely proud of so many members earning colours, and receiving such prestigious awards for Sailing in South Africa. Big congratulations!
Scrap Opis for sale/donation
We have 2 retired Optimists for disposal, they can make ideal “sandpits” for youngsters and they can be covered to keep “pooing” cats out! 🙂

Thanks so much to Mark & Robyn Sadler who have donated a really good fridge to the Club, we can now give you a well “chilled” glass/bottle of wine.
Also to Peter Shaw who donated a DART Catamaran on trailer, we converted and turned into o a really good Finish Bridge Boat and/or rowing coach boat (really fast!)

Subs
It is now past the opening cruise, members who have not paid their subs and other dues are in default and names could be displayed on the Notice Board. We don’t want to lose your membership – if you are having a problem with paying your subs, we ask you to please contact us so we can make a mutually suitable plan to keep your membership ongoing.
Student Casual Help Wanted
We have one person already, but are still looking for a couple more. The Club is desirous of being openon Saturday’s we are anxious to have a couple of students on duty doing Reception work. Currently it is quite quiet but we anticipate things to pick up over the summer season. We envisage hours of 09h00 to 13h00 and 13h00 to 17h00. Ideal secure quiet location, ideal for studying and earning some pocket money at the same time. Any members know anybody interested please have them contact the office on 021 7053373 or email us on manager@zvyc.co.za
