Oppie Sailors can earn R 4000!
ZVYC will be hosting a casting for a Swedish Commercial this coming Monday 12th January at 11h00. This is a great opportunity for 10-12 year old boys who sail Optimists to earn some great money and have some fun in the school holidays.
Requirements are:
- Boys, aged 10-12 years old, or who look age 10-12, who are competent optimist sailors
- Ideally, they should have their own oppie. ZVYC do have a limited number we can lend to you if you do not have your own
- If you are chosen for the commercial, you will need to be available for the whole day on 21 and 22 January to shoot the commercial.
- Venue for the commercial shoot has not been confirmed yet
- Fee for the commercial shoot is R 2000 per day per sailor, for those who are chosen
- Please indicate your attendance on the form
The casting will be held this coming Monday 12 January at ZVYC. Boys taking part will need to be rigged and ready to sail, wearing usual sailing clothing, by 11h00 sharp.

The ZVYC Open Day and Dinghy Boat Show is Sunday 18th Jan
Activities are aimed to attract new members to the Club. All kinds of visitor activities are being arranged and we are hoping all our members will come down and help promote the Club, there is plenty for everyone to do, please volunteer.
Junior Training
Parents please note that Junior registration also happens on the 18th and this is from 10h00 and will probably take place in front of the Oppie boat parking area.
Port Owen River Race
Will be held on 24th/25th January – another very popular event for our members. This is an oncredible event as one gets to sail against hectic tides, both in the Berg River and out into St Helena Bay. Entries are limited and it is one of the fastest growing events in the Western Cape sailing calendar, and very popular, so secure your place by entering online now, here

Other News and Results
We are pleased to announce the appointment of Kathryn Hartley Schwerdtfeger as Club Manager with effect 1st January, Karthryn lives at Zeekoevlei and we trust you will give her the support that Anna and myself have enjoyed over the last 18 months.
Anna and myself will continue at the Club but very much reduced time basis.
The Mirror World Champs at Theewaters finished today, and great news is that Michaela and Ryan Robinson won the title for the second consecutive year, this time with Michaela helming, in a very competive fleet of 29 boats. Read more on Sailing GybeSet and see the full results, here
The Youth Nationals at Aeolians in December saw some great results for some of our members. See results on Sailing GybeSet here
The Sonnet Nationals at HYC in December
Congrats to Roger Hudson and Asenathi Jim on winning and to Josh Rubenstein and Sibu finishing 3rd. Viv James was PRO and it was a very successful event held at HYC . You can download the results here
