2016 African 470 Sailing Championships – Table Bay 11 – 17 January 2016
As you know, our 470 team of Roger and Asenathi have been campaigning long and hard for Rio Olympics. While their main training base has been local, all Olympic qualifying 470 class regattas are held outside of Africa, until now!
Part of raising the profile of sailing in Africa, and particularly South Africa, is to host an Olympic Qualifying regatta. The inaugural 470 Class Open African Championships and Rio 2016 Men’s African Continental Qualification event takes place in Cape Town 11 – 17 January 2016 at Granger Bay, just outside the Waterfront.
The organizers asking for people to open your homes to the visiting sailors and show good ol’ South African hospitality. As the athletes will practice and sail in Granger Bay, it would help enormously if people who live close to town, or commute daily, (and specifically from 11 to 17 Jan 2016) to offer assistance with accommodation.
As the organizers need to notify visiting teams of accommodation arrangements, we urgently need to know how much accommodation is available. Help will also be required with Mark Laying Boats and Safety Boats for the 7 day event.
Please contact Wendy Adams (saswc@sailing.org.za) or Bev le Seur (saswcchairman@sailing.org.za) for more details or to offer accommodation.
Outstanding Subscriptions
Our accountant is going through debtors in order to reduce the outstanding fees by the clubs year end. If you have not paid yet, please make payment advising us accordingly.
A defaulters list will be posted on the notice board in January 2016.

Many thanks
Rochelle
